The purpose of Clann is to help establish the truth of what happened to unmarried mothers and their children in 20th century Ireland. “Gathering the Data” is a joint initiative of Adoption Rights Alliance (ARA) and Magdalenes Research (JFMR).
ARA, JFMR and the global law firm, Hogan Lovells, published the Clann Project’s final Report which drew on 77 witness statements, extracted from conversations with 164 people separated from their family members through what Clann describes as Ireland’s forced, secret adoption system and related historical abuses. Clann has sought to have the Redress Scheme amended to include all human rights violations.
Clann also contends that the Birth ( Information and Tracing ) Bill is flawed and has produced a comprehensive review of the proposed legislation.
